Connor's January Blog Post

Hey guys, Connor here!

So we have just started school for 2014, but, until January 10th I was on Winter break. As with most holidays, the Football club seems to step up its training and playing schedule during these times, and this rang true once again. We set off for a 5 day tournament in Ibaraki-ken which started on the 25th of December; this also came as quite a big culture shock coming from a country where Christmas is a very well celebrated event.

However, we just got on with the game later on in the day which we won 3-2 scoring a penalty in the last 2 minutes of play. The following day we played two games winning both 5-0 and 2-1 and I myself scored twice in the second game. The next day also had two games scheduled, but, unfortunately I came off second best in a challenge and did some bad damage to my ankle ligaments which forced me out of the rest of the tournament. The team still performed well and finished 2nd out of over 40 schools from around the country.

After the tournament I was off to Sydney to see my friends and family for the new year and to escape the cold winter weather! The visit back home only lasted 9 days but it was extremely fun going to the beach, driving and just being at home.
