JET Laurence's September 2017 Blog post!

Laurence here!

Finally, summer is coming to an end! Summer is very humid in Tokyo and it’s always been very hard for me, so I am looking forward to cooler weather.
This month was, of course, our Culture festival (also called School Festival). This year, we served tea again in the Extensive Reading room. I think foreign teas are a nice way to try something new, especially since it was free.

The English Conversation Club members and the International Department staff worked very hard to prepare for the festival. Here is Rebecca and I working on the poster for our room.

I’m very happy with the final result!
This year, the extensive reading room was open to everyone. Our shelves have never looked better. Some people really enjoyed relaxing on the mats while reading some books!

Most of the rooms looked amazing! It’s really incredible how much the students can do in a few days when they put their heart into it. I’m very proud of them.

Emilie's Summer Blog!

At the beginning of this summer my friend and I went to Yokosuka base. There was a festival called friendship festival. We saw the famous artist Crystal Kay for free.

I went to back to Canada for 3 weeks. I went with my money that I had and I was really proud of it. I got to see my best friends, friends, family friends, and also went to look for updates on the school which I am going to attend next year after I graduate high school.
I spent mostly everyday hanging out with my friends. But I also went to look for schools. I also went on road trips. I went to Banff and Jasper. I've been to Banff with my mom before. Banff is where a lot of Japanese-Canadian live.
These are the photo from the road trip and where I went.

I also went to a marathon festival called foam festival - which is where you run through foam.
It was so much fun.

I went to explore so many places in my home town ,which is Edmonton. It's located in Alberta. I went to so many places with my friends. It was really different from hanging out with my classmates in Japan. Very different.
These are some of the pictures that I took with my best friends.

Summer Blog From William

It's a wonderful summer holiday for me.

I went back to my home town Shanghai in July 19th, 2017. I missed our Chinese food too much! After I arrived my home and set my package, I went straight to a traditional Cantonese hot pot restaurant. It's tastes are amazing delicious. There's two kinds of pot base, one is spicy and one is light. We can put beef vegetable mushroom tofu and seafood etc in it. You couldn't eat this kind of awesome food outside China.

Then I travelled to Sichuan province. We strolled in the old towns, had some snacks and played games in our hotel. We also went fishing. Got a big fat grass carp and we let our hotel cooked it.
Although I have went back to Japan now, I still miss the food in my hometown too much. It's a perfect summer holiday and I expect for the next vacation time!

Rebecca's Summer Holiday Blog!

This summer, I went back to China. I went back to meet my family and friends. I was so glad to meet them because I haven't seen them for a long time. I met my grandfather and my uncle and aunt and my cousin. My cousin was only at kindergarten but he had great interest in English. I was amazed of his talent. Then I met my friends in primary school and in junior high school. We went shopping and karaoke. We also had the chance to play the game we all like,"wolf game". We had so much fun.

Another thing that makes me happy was I ate a lot of watermelons. They were too expensive in Japan but very cheap in China so I ate a lot. They were delicious! The last thing was I went to the rehearsal of Alice group.Alice group is a group with 50 or 60 children. We all gathering together in every summer to perform a musical for autism kids and families. l was so happy to meet the group members. Although I couldn't be with the team all the way to the performance, I became a volunteer this year. I helped to teach kids singing and dancing. At the day to say goodbye to Alice, my teacher sent me a bunch of flowers. I was really sad that I have to leave for Japan. I hope I can work hard in the new semester and I hope I can play with my friends and perform the show with all the Alice members next year. I had a wonderful summer!

A Blog from William!

It's my first term about study abroad in Japan. The environment is so fresh. Unavoidable, I met some problems.

Firstly, I spent about 4 times to go to the Immigration Bureau in order to change my visa. All of the time had some issues on my documents. This stuff made me exhausted.

Secondly, the event of renting a flat also made feel tired, but worth it. I used to live in Nodashi, Chiba, which is about one and a half hour railway time to go to Seiritz. It's too far, and I always being late about this. In the end, I moved in a new mansion in July 2017.

Although I met so much mess, it's a training about my life, and I passed them all. I'm feeling good now.

Meg's Excursion Blog

In July I went to The Tokyo Imperial Palace.

We went there from the morning and walked around the imperial palace studying at the same time. It was my second time going there so I was able to understand about the imperial palace’s history more than my first time going there. We walked around and took many pictures.

On our way to the imperial palace, we ate ice cream and had a break.

It is a very clean and beautiful place so there were a lot of people that came from other countries.

After that, we went to a museum. There were a lot of different kinds of stuff that we can learn and have fun with at the museum.

Gaoussou's Summer Holiday Blog

Hello, the summer holiday was fun. First,my basketball teammates and I spent four days discovering and admiring the beautiful scenery on the mountain of Zao and in passing we made three matches which were victorious. Returning now, as it was hot, we took the direction of the beach to enjoy the sun and the bathing. Me and my teammates we really had a good time in this beach. I can not wait for another summer holiday to arrive!!!

JET Teresa's August Blog Post!

Hello all, Teresa here!

Here's my August blog post.

August has been a painful month in many ways. The most obvious reason why is the heat. I feel like I took the heat better last year. This year though, my skin burned. It’s the first time I have ever burned before! I carelessly applied sunscreen before that time, but now I am mindful as to the appropriate amount I put on my skin. I also religiously wear a cap when I go out for long hours. After all, we have to protect ourselves from UV rays!

During this month, while I had to cater to my burns, I had to also say goodbye to many of my friends. My friends had finished their contract successfully and had decided that it was their time. It was hard to admit that they were leaving since some of them, I had just met a couple of months before. With the internet and social media nowadays though, goodbyes aren’t as hard and I’ve made many promises to visit them in their home countries!

On the bright side, I also had many wonderful parties/gatherings with my friends, my partner, and host family. With all the fireworks and festivity in the air, how can we not celebrate summer?

Cheers,
Teresa
