Say hello to Scarlett!

Hey everybody,
I am Scarlett Halford. I am the new Assistant Language Teacher at Seiritsu Gakuen.

I come from England. Yorkshire, the county that I live in is famous for its beautiful countryside and also the tea brand 'Yorkshire Tea'. My love of hiking comes from exploring the Yorkshire Dales, the hilly region I come from. At The University of Leeds I studied Sociology and Social Policy. I chose this subject as I enjoy learning about other cultures and thinking critically about aspects of our society.

This is my first time in Japan, however I have lived overseas before. In 2016 I lived with a family in India for three months, during this time I volunteered in the village by assisting in teaching English, holding regular women/youth groups and also by organizing fun community events.

I am really excited to start a new life in Japan, learn the language and participate in traditional and cultural events across the country. In the past three weeks I have already explored many exciting areas of Tokyo. I went to TeamLAB digital art museum, I attended the Pikachu Parade in Yokohama and also visited the beach and the Great Buddha in Kamakura.

I look forward to speaking English with you. If you have any suggestions on places I should visit or food that I should try please let me know!
