Scarlett goes to Moomin Park

People who say Saitama is the prefecture where there isn't much to do clearly hasn't been to Tove Jansson Akebono Children's Forest Park (Also known as the Moomin Park).

This month I decided that on my day off I would go visit the park because I love The Moomins. When I was in Elementary school I used to watch it on TV. The closest station was Motokaji, so I hopped on the train from Ikebukuro and on the express it only took 30 minutes.

The park has Scandinavian style buildings which feature in the show. It was so fun to explore all the interesting buildings and learn about the history of the cute characters. I went during the week so there were not many children around, and it was nice and quiet!

If you like The Moomins I recommend that you visit this park, also in March there is a Moomin theme park opening nearby called Moomin Valley Park. I cannot wait to go back to Saitama and visit.

Gage works on his Japanese in term 5

For my term 5, I spent a lot of time studying and learning Japanese. Though it was slightly difficult I have since improved upon my language skills. I also walked a lot looking all around the Akabane and Kita-Akabane trying to find new and exciting places with good views and interesting activities. Term 5 was short for me but it was definitely fun.

Teresa's very first ski trip

When I was in the States, I never got the chance to go skiing or snowboarding like I knew people did in my
high school because they would always leave their ski passes on their jackets. I always wanted to know
what it felt like to slide down a mountain at a speed my body is totally uncomfortable with.

I finally got that chance this year. A good friend of mine organized an event for over 200 people. You read that right! Three hotels were completely booked out and shops all around the area were well aware of the sudden surge in population.

Needless to say, I was terrified; however, I was going something new and like doing something new. It's better when I do it scared too. I want to challenge myself to do something new and nerve wracking at least once a month. More than that and I think I'll be pushing it!

What are things that scare you but will do anyway?

Rebecca goes to Disney Sea with Sophia

I went to Disne ySea with Sophia on her birthday, which was February 11th. We both bought furry Duffy clothes, and we both wore the school uniform in it. The day was so cold and snowy, but we bought a lot of souvenirs, watched many shows, ate popcorn and drank milk tea. We also rode many attractions and took many pretty pictures! We looked so cute and really had a great time!!
