Vicky's soccer schedule is picking up

This summer, it was a lot different from what i've experienced in these past years. we had to deal with corona virus and social distance with people. we weren't able to practice from march to june and one of the biggest tournament was canceled because of it. But in September, everything started to go back normal and we are now allowed to play in games. Every year there is a highschool soccer tournament called senshuken(選手権), which every high school soccer team from each prefecture play against eachother to be the first place team and get qualified for a tournament called zenkokutaikai(全国大会) which is the biggest tournament of the year and all of the first place highschool team competes to be the number one soccer team in japan. My team won the first two games but lost in third game of senshuken. we ended up in 16th place of highschool team in Tokyo.

On TV again!

Our school festival was featured on TV this morning! TBS Asa-chan aired a segment about online school festivals and they had done some filming here at Seiritsu.

Our students worked so hard. It is nice for them to be recognized, and on TV at that!
Way to go!

Inekari 2020

For students all over the world, most school events have been canceled or postponed. It is an unfortunate reality for almost everyone. Luckily, we were able to find a way to make sure that our students could still do the race harvesting event this month.

You can learn about the event in past September blogs (and in some cases in October when students are writing about the term or the previous month). This year's event has special meaning as we contemplate how important it is to be able to have a secure source of food during troubling times as well as good times.

Here is a Japanese blog post about the recent harvest:

JLPT for 2020

Are you hoping to take the (JLPT) Japanese Language Proficiency Test this year?
The deadline for the test is coming up on September 17th. The test in July was canceled so we expect it to be quite busy this December because many students will need to pass a test (usually N2) for their university the next year. Unfortunately so many students were not able to go to school to study this spring and summer. They have a difficult road ahead of them.

We wish everyone who is considered taking the test lots of luck in their studies for the next three months.

Zebra after school classes resume!

Our Zebra classes have restarted!

Normally we have five or six weeks off during the summer break. This year we were offering lessons throughout the month of August. Not everyone was able to take advantage of these classes so for a few members it will be a good restart for them.

We are welcoming new members as well and look forward to having lots of fun this fall and winter.

Health checks 2020

Today and tomorrow, we are holding our annual health checks for students. While normally this is done at the start of the school year, we had to delay the checks this year. But now, more than ever, we need need to make sure all of the students are "genki" and in good health. We hope all of our past students, wherever they may be, are in good health and "genki" as well.

Scarlett's Favourite Place to go during Summer in Tokyo

Japanese summers are incredibly hot and humid. So during them, I like to escape the busy city and find a nice cool place to relax.
This summer, I found my perfect spot. It is called Akigawa Valley. Here you can hike, go to the onsen and swim in the river.

I usually go there in the morning and hang out in the water all day and have a picnic with my friends. You can even jump off the high rocks!
It only takes around one hour from Shinjuku on the Chuo line, with one quick transfer at Haijima. Then you can walk or take the bus to the famous spot. It is easy to find because the Ishibunebashi Bridge runs over the top!

Where is your favourite place to go in Summer?

Zebra Matsuri

Hello everyone!
We held a special festival for our Seiritz Zebra students at the end of summer. You can see pictures here on this blog.
https://www.seiritz-zebra.jp/english/2020/09/-2020-1.php

If you can read Japanese, you can learn about it here as well. But for those of you who cannot read Japanese...

We held the summer festival (Matsuri) over three days and let the kids attempt typical Japanese festival activities in English. We had gun shooting, ball throwing, ring toss, and several scooping and fishing activities. We also made a "lantern" during a short craft session. And in the background we had some traditional Japanese festival music.

The students really enjoyed it. It might become a regular tradition!
