Scarlett's November blog

It's getting a lot colder now.
It's now the time to cozy up under the blankets and eat warm nutritious food.

Many people get sick during the colder months and therefore it is important to keep warm and look after your body. My tip to survive winter is to eat lots of curries.

One of my favorite curries in Tokyo is in Shimokitazawa. It is called Samurai Mikazuki Curry. They do various flavor curries which also have lots of vegetables so they are good for us. You can also include additional toppings that are delicious such as cheese mochi and garlic broccoli.

Whether you go out to eat safely or make it yourself, curry is a great way to stay warm and healthy. Good areas to visit for curries are Shimokitazawa and Koenji.

University preparations

The International Department works closely with a number of students who need extra English support for their university admittance (and/or for the steps once they have entered).

The students typically come into SGC on a regular basis and work really hard. Some of them come in the morning and some come after classes. Some even stay after school for most of the evening.

We are really happy to see how they work hard and we are excited when they achieve their goals.

Good luck to all the 3rd years!

Junior high Earth Project

Last week our junior high students were able to experience the last step of the Earth Project that we hold every year. They could "shuck" the rice and dig up some potatoes.
Usually all first graders of high school also participate but this year we had to limit it. International Department teachers also usually accompany the classes and help the exchange students but, since we have no short term exchange students, we did not go this year.

There is a post in Japanese about the event.

Mornings before school in SGC

We have many students, especially 3rd year high school students, who come to SGC to ask advice about studying abroad at a university, practice with English interview tests, or just want want a comfortable place to study and spend some relaxing time. Any year is welcome of course. Please come if you have a questions, to read a book and relax, or just to say hello!

SGC has many functions

SGC (Seiritsu Global Center), gets used for a lot of things. One of them is helping students who want to pass important English interview tests such as Eiken. They can get instruction and advice in both English and Japanese to help them build their abilities as well as a confidence in a friendly, comfortable environment.
