Every year Japan goes through the rainy season. It usually starts in June but this year is expected to start around May 20th. So let't plan for it.

1. It is best to buy a fold-up umbrella that you can keep in your bag all the time.
2. A waterproof bag from a 100 yen store is also good. It can help keep your books etc. dry when the rain really comes down.
3. Mold is a big problem in Japan from all the rain and humidity. Moisture absorbing products are also available in 100 yen stores. It is good to get some for your closet, shoes etc.
4. Check your weather app before you make plans or leave for school. Then you can be sure you have an umbrella, waterproof bag etc.
Okay, now we are ready for rainy season. Let's get wet!

1st year high school and junior high school students were able to have the annual Ta-ue (rice planting) outdoor activity. Ta-ue is the perfect activity to experience the spirit of cooperation. Students receive some of the harvested rice later in the year as a gift. Zoya, our student from Pakistan enjoyed herself thoroughly.

The weekend is here and we will be celebrating Mothers' Day on Sunday. Most of the people reading this blog will likely have a Mothers' Day holiday in their respective countries. Over 50 countries around the world celebrate this special day. It is called "Haha no hi" (母の日) in Japanese.
In Japan we celebrate it on the second Sunday of May. This is supposed to be the most common date to hold it. But some countries hold it on different times of the year.

In the current environment around the world, we hope you are able to show - in some form or another - your mother your appreciation for all her love and hard work. If you are not able to meet in person, or if the stores in your local area are closed (like they are here in Tokyo), ordering something online might be a good option. Don't forget to call!
