Seiritsu International Education

In September, we hosted the cultural festival. The atmosphere at the school was incredible as all the students were so happy and excited to be preparing for the festival. It was very touching to see that the students feel very passionate about the festival.

During the festival, it was amazing to see just how creative and artistic the students really are. For example, some classes recreated the spinning teacups ride, casinos and haunted houses. I was truly impressed by the student's dedication to the festival.

I also had the opportunity to take part in the school's cultural festival. The ECC (English Conversation Club) team decided to set up a board game station and an extensive reading station. It was really fun to prepare and interact with the other ECC members. I am grateful I had the opportunity to experience the cultural festival and it will be a memory I will treasure forever.

On the day after the cultural festival, some of the classes start a clothing donation program. You can donate clothes you don't use to people in poorer countries; it is being sponsored by the clothing store Uniqlo. Let's donate some clothes to people who need them!

The day has finally come for Seiritsu-sai. Classes and clubs have come up with many themes and motiffs such as roller coasters, Toy Story, Mario Bros, and much more. So much fun to explore!

Preparations for the Seirisusai (school cultural festival) have been going on for a few days now. For us in English Conversation Club and International Department, it was quite busy because we don't have as many members as other departments and clubs - but everyone is working hard!

At the start of September we were lucky enough to accompany the students to harvest rice in the fields over in Saitama.

The day was very hot and sunny but very enjoyable. We were taught how to use the small scythes the students used to harvest the rice and given a demonstration. After this, everyone was able to try their
hand at harvesting and passing the rice over to the professionals who then put it in the thresher.

It was a great day out with the high school students and their teachers which gave the students, and us, a chance to experience something new and to be outside the classroom for a day.

I had a lot of fun and would really recommend it!

It is that time of year again. The winter test will be held on December 4th this year. The registration period runs from August 25th to September 15th. That means the last day to register online is this Thursday at 5pm. If you wait until the last minute, the website is usually really busy and it is believed that every year some people miss it because they cannot complete their registrations in time.

Don't let that happen to you! Register right away!

Hello! My name is Jessica and I am the new ALT (Assistant Language Teacher) here at Seiritsu Gakuen. I am from Liverpool which is located in the North-West of England. My city is especially famous for the seaside, football and The Beatles.

I majored in Management Studies at the University of Leicester. In the city of Leicester, there are many delicious restaurants and so you will never run out of options on what to eat. I also studied abroad in South Korea for a year at Sungkyunkwan University. I lived in Seoul which has an abundance of things to do. I highly recommend visiting a meerkat cafe or to try on their traditional clothing (Hanbok). Moreover, I had an amazing opportunity to study at Nara Women's University for a month. I can speak English, Cantonese and basic Mandarin and Korean. I am really excited to be learning the Japanese language and culture.

I look forward to being part of this wonderful family here at Seiritsu.

Our new JET (teacher) has begun meeting her classes. The students are excited to meet their new teacher. And our new teacher, Jessica, is excited to meet all the students.

The after school programs run by Seiritz Zebra group held some English class special lessons at the end of August for our English class members and their friends or family.
We have been holding special summer "festival" type lessons for a few years now.
The kids really enjoy the lessons.
Hopefully next year we can all enjoy normal festivals around the country.

This summer, while most days it was too hot to do much more than sit in my room with the AC on and read, I escaped the heat to make a few day trips outside of Tokyo. One of my favourite trips was to Chichibu, out in western Saitama.

Surrounded by lush forests and turquoise rivers, we were able to spend the day wandering around the local town and then hiking in the forest to a temple and then to a waterfall. We were accompanied by my friend's enthusiastic shiba inu who was clearly in her element in the more wild environment of Chichibu.

The greenery of Chichibu made for a great day trip and was a welcome change of pace from Tokyo, I would recommend you go if you have a spare day one weekend!
