JET teacher Teresa's July Blog Post!

July means a lot of things to many people, but to most students and teachers in Seiritsu, it screams, “Extra Studying Needed!”

My first two weeks in July consisted of requests to conduct mock Eiken interviews! The first request came from a student’s homeroom teacher, and she kindly provided all the materials needed for the interviews. The latter ones though came from students who randomly came across me while in the hallways. The mock interviews ended as fast as it began when the weekend of the test passed. I’m hoping they all did well!

The last two weeks was a mix of excitement and dread. My second year students went on their school trip to either France, Okinawa, or Hokkaido. I tried to convince all my second year students to take me with them, but they just laughed at me thinking it was a joke. That’s where the dread kicked in.

Even so, when they came back, they shared lovely reports of their school trip. Almost everyone mentioned making many memories with their classmates. I was thankful to be able to experience the trip vicariously through them.

Before we knew it, they were taking their last exam before summer. To me, July starts and ends with the mindset to study.
