Halloween fun

Every year, as part of our cultural exchange efforts, the International Department holds Halloween parties for the junior high classes. This year had to be adjusted for the current situation but we still managed to introduce some Halloween fun into the school classes.
Here are a few pictures from some of the junior high classes.

In a year when so much has been cancelled or toned down, it was nice to give the students a little bit of fun.

Scarlett cycles around fancy Shibuya toilets

Have you seen the new public toilets across Shibuya ward?

Japan is known to be one of the cleanest countries in the world, it is also known for its immaculate hospitality. Shibuya ward government created THE TOKYO TOILET project, where 17 brand new toilet facilities have been created,

This year only 7 have opened but by August 2021 they will all be complete. Famous Japanese architects have designed the toilets and they all have various interesting features. The ones you may of seen already in the news are the ones next to Yoyogi Park which is made from see-through colored glass. From the outside you can see inside the toilets, so you can check if it is occupied and also if it is clean. When you lock the door the glass becomes frosted so nobody can see inside.

I recommend you try and visit these toilets because they each have interesting designs. A fun way to do this is by bike!

Zebra Halloween classes

Our after school English classes for local elementary aged kids, called Seiritz Zebra, is holding special Halloween classes. We cannot do a big production but we wanted to make sure the children could still have some safe fun. We are breaking into the small groups and limiting the number of friends who can come.
Activities are being done to limit contact and loud voices and yet still managing to have fun and excitement.

We hope the kids can enjoy the special lessons.

Vicky makes an impact in soccer league games

League games have started and so far we have had two games. I scored in the first game of the league. Ever since we were back to normal and allowed to play in official games, it was my first time scoring a goal so I was super happy. I hope to continue this play and score more goals to lead our team to become first place in our league!

Teacher Health check time

Every year companies across Japan hold health checks for their employees. Seiritsu Gakuen does the same thing for their teachers and staff. We also do it for students every year as well. They are usually held in April. You can see some of our blog posts about that in past April months.

The teachers were split into smaller groups this year to be extra safe. Next week it is time for the flu vaccinations for the students and then the following week is flu shots for teachers.

Everyone's safety is of utmost importance at the school.
Take care!
