Scarlett plans to enjoy autumn

As autumn is coming around and the weather is changing I'm already planning what autumnal activities I'm going to do.

Usually, I like to go on hikes to see the red and orange leaves. Also a cosy stay in a ryokan is perfect for when the weather gets cooler.

I also like to cook more dishes that will warm me up. My favorites are potato and leek soup and chickpea curry.

Did you hear that the pumpkin spiced latte has now arrived in Starbucks Japan? I tried it today because it's a cold rainy day and it was so yummy. It reminds me of Christmas and sitting in front of a fireplace.

What autumn activities do you enjoy?

Summer Phonics session

Phonics are a key building block for younger learners. For our junior high classes, we try to get it to the students as early as possible but sometimes we have to wait until the summer break to get to more depth.

This week we spent some time on the next stages of phonics (things like diphthongs and digraphs) with our first graders of junior high.

The students enjoyed learning how to improve their reading, writing, and pronunciation and so on.

We are sure they will see the difference in the fall semester.

Summer sessions 2021

We are back at school and holding our summer sessions. Not all the students are here at once. We are splitting up the grades and their lessons. Some grades have lessons and some are off.

For some of the classes, they are able to enjoy special sessions that are hard to fit into the regular term times. Here you can see some of our junior high students learning some programming with Pepper, the robot.

A future pilot

I heard from one of our wonderful alumni who is taking his pilot's license in the US. We always chat in English and he sent us some amazing pictures from one of his recent flights.
Check out these pictures. Aren't they awesome?

Open School for future Junior High students

This Sunday, we had close to 20 students in total show up for the junior high English program introduction. We watched a video or two, did some fun and easy reading and played a few card games. We also told children and parents about the curriculum as well, of course. It was a fun day.

High School Open School/Club introduction

On Saturday, we had open school and English club introductions for prospective students. Club members gave a short introduction and then we played some fun and active games to get our mouths and bodies moving. We followed this up with some card games and a quiz. It was a good day.

Courtyard construction

For those of you who have been at our school, you know that we have a special kind of turf in the courtyard. It has had lots of little repairs over the years but this year we will be doing a full renewal of the courtyard turf.
The construction began today.
