Don't Panic!

disaster center.jpegIn early October, the international team made a trip down to Ikebukuro to find out more about what to do in the event of different emergencies.

We started by watching different situations with a VR headset. We learned what the person in the video did wrong and how to react in that situation.

We then had the opportunity to react to a room filling with smoke; we had to find the exit while remaining crouched and it was surprisingly difficult!

Our guide told us about all the different fire extinguishers, and when to use them. We even got to try one out with a virtual fire and pressurised water.

We finished the trip with a simulation of the 2011 Great Eastern Japan Earthquake, which gave a much more real idea of what a serious earthquake would feel like.

Overall, the day was a lot more informative and enjoyable than I would have expected. Our guide around the centre was wonderful and I felt I learnt a lot of really useful information!

I would highly recommend a visit!
